“Our city Newcastle” is a book of landscape watercolour illustrations that capture the beauty of our city by the sea, from the spectacular coastline to nature precincts. These watercolour illustrations hold personal significance and reflect the everyday experiences I have with my family living in Newcastle, from our many visits to Blackbutt Reserve, exploring Glenrock and the Fernleigh Track, playing at our local Lambton Park and summer mornings at Merewether Beach.
The story and illustrations in “A visit to Blackbutt Reserve” were inspired by the regular visits to this wildlife sanctuary I have had with my son Owen, from when he was a little baby. We still visit Blackbutt Reserve, now accompanied by my second baby, Lucy, who loves animals too.
